Tips for Battling Loneliness in an Epidemic of Loneliness

Greeting Stewards,

A couple of weeks ago, we shared that the Surgeon General Advisory has declared an Epidemic of Loneliness, which he acknowledges as a public health crisis. Hartford Healthcare has shared four steps to stop loneliness from affecting your health.

The four steps come directly from Carla Schnitzlein, DO, a medical director for Natchaug Hospital. Although there are many different ways to ease your loneliness, these are Dr.Schnitzlein’s four suggestions:

  1. Leaning on interests

  2. Taking it slow

  3. Opening up

  4. Being kind to yourself

If you’re interested in a deeper dive, take a look at the article for a for more explanation behind Dr.Schnitzlein’s choices.

Lastly, registration for our August forum is still open! Next month’s forum will feature Amy Rogers, Food and Culture Writer/Researcher/Editor, as our guest facilitator! Please share the registration link with anyone who might benefit from our narrative health workshops. We would love to welcome new participants.

Warmly,

Asheanna
