Stories from Stage: Cancer Survivor Stories

Greeting Stewards,

We hope that you are enjoying your summer so far. We’re a little late in speaking of it, but did you know that June is known as National Cancer Awareness Month? To commemorate this, the World Channel partnered with Count Me In, a cancer research initiative, and PBS created two videos in which cancer survivors tell their stories.

The two episodes of Stories from Stage, Living with Cancer and Beyond Cancer, showcase eight BIPOC cancer survivors as they “explore the wide range of experiences an individual goes through when diagnosed with cancer: grief, healing, fortitude and continuing advocacy for all cancer patients.”

The survivors not only focus on different topics, but also deliver their narratives differently. One person used comedy to tell her story, while others focused on the disparities in cancer among Black women as well as having cancer with other chronic diseases.

We thought you might appreciate the opportunity to experience these two episodes and take something away from these vulnerable true stories.

Lastly, we held our second forum of 2023 this week! We were honored to have this forum led by  our first guest facilitator, Judy Connolly. And registration is also now open for our August forum! Please share this email or the registration link with anyone you feel might find value in this work.

Warmly,

Asheanna
