Mental Health & Wellness Through Apps

Greeting Stewards,

Here at PAHS we value the stewarding of good mental health as much as physical health—after all, our minds and bodies are part of the same whole system of health. Although we’ve faced many local, national, and global challenges and stressors in the past few years, we’ve also seen advances in the accessibility of resources for managing our mental wellness, including apps!

And given the the well-documented rise in depression and anxiety since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s not surprising that, according to KARE11, the popularity of mental health apps are on a rise. Apps have both benefits and drawbacks, but they do make mental health resources more accessible to those who are not able to access in-person therapy sessions.

Dr. Christine Stanson, the medical director of inpatient mental health at Regions Hospitals here in Minnesota says, “There's also that privacy, that anonymity. That being able to do something from home or from wherever they are.”

If you are in search of a mental health app, the article recommended websites and apps such as Talkspace, BetterHelp, Happify, and MoodKit

Warmly,

Asheanna
